For this week's blog post, I read the Ten Commandments of Netiquette by Virginia Shea. It features ten basic rules for online communication and exchanges, that often people lack in their actions, thus resulting in misunderstandings, bad behavior and more problems.

The commandment I'd like to focus on would be the 5. one - Make yourself look good online. This rule is very important, as it's even more actual in our current day and age. When Shea described this commandment, she associated it with bad grammar, spelling errors, pointless text, too many opinions and almost no facts and posting provocative messages.
If I could make all of the Internet users learn one rule from Virginia Shea, it would be this one. When browsing the internet or chatting with other people, it occurs to me that people just forget basic spelling and grammar when communicating with each other. Also, they post too much pointless content without any need for people to see it, just wasting all of the readers time. And obviously provocative messages are the reason to even start communicating for some, just to get attention for their sayings.
It's funny how the communication online has shifted to even lazier and less-effort forms than in the time when the Netiquette book was written. Maybe in the future people realize that their actions are not good online and find this book and understand that they have been doing it all wrong.
